Technical:
- All the standing throwing techniques
- Yellow-orange-green belt level grips (see exam notes) standing and ground, favoring techniques with throws and not uchi-komis (without throws)
- various grips while standing, one grip while moving
- Perfecting grip techniques while moving (displacing)
- 5 tactical/technical combinations in Nage-waza - practice with throws versus uchi-komis (lead-in exercise without throws)
- 8 ground techniques: on all fours, 2 simple flips forward and backward (uke on the belly), 2 semi-nelsons, pushing the tori’s knee while on the back, ‘Leah’s’ roll (tori on all fours), flip by grabbing the belt (tori is on his/her back), Randori (free-style sparring) standing and ground, correctly (stance, flexed arms, lateral displacement)
- Randoris lasting 3 minutes
Physical fitness and general motor skills (emphasizes motor skills and flexibility (non-Judo) and develops strength and endurance):
- warming-up exercises learned over the years (gymnastics, bridges on shoulders and head, push-ups, wave push-ups, neck-bridges
- forward and backward rolls, regular and Judo
- different gymnastics salts
- different, more complex ukemis (longer, higher, etc)
Judo theory :
- thorough understanding of the rules of the sport (points, penalties, what is permitted or forbidden)
Introduction to competition:
- participation in regional and provincial championships, follow the events calendar published by Judo Québec (provincial championships require an orange belt minimum)
- be a member of a team for team competitions in Boucherville (U 11, U 13, U 15)
Psychological preparation:
- Introducing: Stress management: grade exams (advancing in belt colors) and house tournament participation (in December and May)
- Controlling negative emotions: discipline and self-control and resolving little conflicts between the kids
YEAR-END EVALUATION (MAY):
- Objective: advance by one belt color or better
- Those who are advancing quickly may be offered an earlier exam during the year if they appear ready to compete in regional competitions where an orange belt is required.
